L'énergie Sombre was the 2nd self-produced feature of Fuica Films Pictures, following "La Run". Written and directed by Leonardo Fuica himself, the director/writer took the creative decision of making this Canadian film as a found footage film using similar cinematographic techniques as Paranormal Activity, The Blair Witch Project. This Canadian film follows two brilliant anthropology students, Étienne and Éloïse, who find themselves embarking on an extraordinary journey that transcends the boundaries of conventional understanding. Drawn together by their shared passion for unraveling the mysteries of the human experience, they form an unlikely alliance with a team of seasoned paranormal investigators.
Their collective mission? To shed light on the perplexing and long-standing enigma surrounding the disappearance of a young man a dozen years ago. As they delve deeper into this haunting case, they find themselves entangled in a web of inexplicable events that defy rational explanation.
Set against the backdrop of the picturesque and enigmatic landscapes of Quebec, Canada, Étienne and Éloïse traverse three chillingly haunted locations. These supernatural hotspots, shrouded in a veil of darkness and whispers of the otherworldly, become the stage for a gripping investigation that blurs the lines between science and the ethereal.
But as they venture further into the unknown, the duo soon realizes that this quest is not merely a search for answers, but a confrontation with their own personal demons. The horrors they encounter force them to confront their deepest fears and insecurities, pushing the limits of their own resilience and sanity.
Following the release of this Québécois film, the news outlet 7 Jours featured a discussion between 2 of the film's stars, Isabelle Blais and Pierre Luc Brilliant, who are a couple in real life. Here is an exclusive look :
Both of you share the screen in this Quebec horror film inspired by paranormal phenomena. Tell me about this movie.
Isabelle Blais : Pierre-Luc was initially approached. Then, while reading the script, he immediately thought that there could be a role for me and that it would be fun to be back in the cinema; we haven't done it since BORDELINE in 2008. We then met the director and worked on the script with him"
Pierre-Luc Brilliant : I found the idea of acting in a horror film interesting. Opportunities like this don't come often in Quebec. Finally, when I found out that Isabelle could also be part of it, I was very happy! It's a pleasure to act with her, and traveling as a couple makes it even better. We also work together on the set of "Au secours de Béatrice," and it feels strange to see Isabelle in a role of an unkind girl. Thankfully, her character is light-years away from who she is in real life.
Do you have other upcoming projects together?
Isabelle Blais: There is this record project that we are working on. We share a common passion for acting, but also for music! We wanted to do something together. We were able to play and sing together in Midsummer (a play with nine songs) and we got hooked. Otherwise, we have our respective projects; I will be part of Blue Moon, and I will soon be filming in Sudbury for a miniseries where I will play an alcoholic professor.
